The Current System Of Abortion - 1348 Words

Similar to â€Å"adolescent† and â€Å"adult,† the terms â€Å"embryo† and â€Å"fetus† are used to describe different stages in human development. It would be preposterous to consider an individual to be more human the older and bigger they get. With this, all innocent human life is equally deserving of respect and has the right to live. The current system surrounding abortion fails to ensure that this right is equally distributed among the earliest stages of human life. In order to ensure that this right is protected in all stages of human development, the current system must be revised. Abortion policy should be reformed because the current system disregards alternative solutions, endangers the mother, and lacks proper limitations. The current system promotes abortion as being the easy way out and disregards alternative solutions. When a woman becomes pregnant, there is no easy way out; birth, adoption, and abortion are all methods that require emotiona l and physical energy. One way to completely prevent an unplanned pregnancy is to promote the use contraceptives. Abortion today, is being mistaken and abused as a form contraception. Abortion does not prevent the conception of a child, it ends the life of one. â€Å"Greater access to birth control. . . helps women delay childbearing until they and their partners are in a stable relationship, ready to marry, and ready to become parents† (Haskins, Sawhill, and McLanahan 3).
